You have arrived at the Discovery Middle School social studies 6th grade blog and web page administered by Jennifer Cobb and Randy Hogue. These pages and blogs are dedicated to assisting students and parents in the efforts to keep up with not only what is going on class but also to serve as a resource to accompany our study of Greece, Rome, and the Western World.
Today students continued to view the video on the Dark Ages presented by the History Channel. This is a very good account of the time just before the fall of Rome to the start of the first Crusades in about 1100 A.D. The full length documentary is linked below. If you have gaps or missed some due to Chromebook issues or even missed it all, you may review it. This does not break it into sections as we did in class. Note: We will not be viewing it in its entirety as it is very long at around 90 minutes total. You will be using your note information for a writing opportunity early next week. As you well know, I am not in the habit of posting video clips that are longer than 10 minutes. I am posting this one for your reference only.
The following list is the time and title breakdowns as we viewed in class: 3:44 The Dark Ages, Chaos, War, and Disease; 5:12 Fall of the Roman Empire; 15:11 Anarchy, Chaos and Christianity; 11:25 Justinian and the Byzantines; 6:15 Bubonic Plague; 10:40 Benedict and Monasteries; 8:00 Franks and the Moors; 9:37 The Viking Invasion; 10:05 The Crusades.
There is not an assignment. This is just a resource.
