Tuesday

Today we completed our work with Renaissance impact players. Each student is required to have researched (C level) and compiled information that will help them draw conclusions to the following three questions:

1. Which category of Renaissance Players had the biggest impact on the Renaissance and why?
2.Which individual person had the most impact on the Renaissance and why?
3. Which one Player from the Renaissance did you find the most interesting and why? The why should be supported by your Internet or other sources.

The B-A+ level of the assessment will be determined by how well you respond to the three questions in your socratic seminar experience. Remember, you must share your information or I will not be able to score you properly. Also, you may find more resources and information to use in the socratic experience, if you like. The better you are prepared, the better you will be able to share and score.

Monday - Jigsaw Groups

Monday we concluded our category groups and moved into jigsaw groups. Students have to collect information for the three groups they were not a part of and share information for the group they were.

After completing the jigsaw collection sheet students will move into the solo portion of the project and answer the following three questions: "Which category of Renaissance Players had the biggest impact on the Renaissance and why?" "Which individual person had the most impact on the Renaissance and why?" and "Which one Player from the Renaissance did you find the most interesting and why?"

The answers to these questions displayed in a Socratic Seminar style of discussion will be the B-A+ level of the assessment. Each student that completed the research collection portion on their Player, including three sources, already has achieved a C on the basic level of the assessment. Any student that did not complete that part or does not complete it by Wednesday will not participate in the Seminar and will only be able to score a C.

Most of the information that students will need has already been provided either by themselves or from their group. If you want to collect some more information to help you with the three questions, giving you a better shot at a high score on the Socratic Seminar, you may do additional research at home. Tomorrow we are offering another BYOD day to aid you in that endeavor. Your B-A+ level score will depend on what and how your share information connected to those three questions mentioned above.

Cold Friday...2 hour Delay

Hello! Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe! We had a 2 hour delay schedule which means that our classes were shortened to 40 minutes. Mr. Hogue's class did not get to hear the speaker about on-line safety but he will try again next Friday. Mr. Hogue's class instead did another lesson on safe on-line talk. Mrs. Cobb's class was able to complete the acuity post test for quarter 2. On Monday we will continue our group discussion on our Renaissance Players.

Lessons on On-Line Safety

Hello! Today Mr. Hogue's class and Mrs Cobb's class had different lessons. Mr. Hogue's class did a lesson on safe passwords and then took acuity post test for quarter 2. Mrs. Cobb's class had a guest speaker, mr. Hodgson, from the Office of Information Technology at Notre Dame. He spoke about on-line safety. Both classrooms were sent home with handouts to give to their parents. Tomorrow the lessons will be flip-flopped.  Mr. Hodgson sent a paper that has a few links for you to check out. One of them is important site where Facebook users can go to so they can learn all of the new Facebook settings implemented a few months back. The goal is to protect your personal information. Monday we will continue with our work with renaissance players.

Renaissance Players - Continued

Today classes were moved into their "category" groups to discuss the impact their group (players) made on the Renaissance. If any student did not have their data charts complete, they did not get a signature and have not reached the C level performance for this unit's assessment. Monday will be the last day to complete this for full credit. because we are moving on to the next level as we work toward a Socratic Seminar discussion on Tuesday. That will be the B-A+ level of the assessment. Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to Internet cyber safety, safe passwords, and the Quarter 2 post Acuity test. The results from this assessment will be compared to your pretest results taken at the start of quarter 2. Do you best.

Renaissance Player Research

Hello! Today we completed research for the Players of  the Renaissance. Students will need to come tomorrow with their handout completed with 3 sources (see attached). Students used their devises and the laptops in the classroom to work today. Students also talked about what was necessary to do tonight to complete the assignment.

Foggy Monday

Hey! Welcome to the two new groups for the second semester. Your notifications should clear up once I archive the other groups. We will be using the same system as before in that we will take your Edmodo scores and transfer them as needed to HAC. Your Edmodo totals will not necessarily be the same as your HAC grade.
Tomorrow will be a BYOD day. So, bring devices if you have them if your parents are OK with you bringing them. We will continue our research and be mixing Cobb/Hogue classes to pull this off. With the additional devices in hand it should be easy to do. You will have one more class period only to gather your three required sources of information. If you want to do some more research at home, that is fine but not required at this time. If you get little done tomorrow, that might be a different story altogether.
I am requesting parent participation in this the second half of the year. So, please have your parent sign up using the "parent" code associated with your code. If your parent does not wish to follow along and or receive the email updates, that is fine. I will be sending out instructions how to connect if you are uncertain how to do it.
Have a great foggy Monday evening.
